What happened to Just Host

Just Host stopped selling hosting in 2024; justhost.com now redirects to Bluehost, which says the two brands “are now one” and keeps the existing accounts running. We keep this page because the brand is still linked to and searched for; the full story and what to use instead are below.

Working alternatives to Just Host

Hosts we currently review that cover the same use cases. Some links on WebHostingBreak are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never affects our ratings or rankings.

What Just Host was

Just Host was a budget shared hosting brand built around a single, generously specified cPanel plan: unlimited-style storage and bandwidth, a free domain, one-click installs for WordPress and other applications, and an anytime money-back guarantee that was one of its main talking points. It was aimed squarely at first-time site owners and price-driven buyers, and it advertised heavily on that basis.

The brand launched in 2008 and was bought by Endurance International Group not long afterwards. From that point it was operated alongside Bluehost on shared infrastructure, which is why Just Host reviews from the 2010s tend to describe an experience that is hard to distinguish from Bluehost’s. Endurance became Newfold Digital in 2021.

What happened

The storefront closed in 2024

The Internet Archive’s last working capture of the Just Host homepage is from mid-July 2024, within days of the same thing happening to the sister brand HostMonster. Captures from that point on are permanent redirects to Bluehost. No pricing page survived the switch, so there is no public record of what Just Host charged at the end.

The customers were rebranded onto Bluehost

Bluehost keeps a page for inherited Just Host customers that says the two brands are now one, and tells them to open the Bluehost site and log in with their current credentials. Its FAQ answers are reassuring and specific: renewal dates and billing cycles do not change, the hosting server and content do not move, support is still available, settings update automatically on Bluehost’s side, and domains are unaffected and require no action. In other words the servers stayed where they were and the branding changed around them.

What the domain does today

Checked in September 2026, justhost.com returns a permanent redirect to Bluehost’s Just Host landing page. There is no signup, no price list and no Just Host support site.

If you are still a Just Host customer

  • Log in through Bluehost with your existing credentials, and use its password reset rather than any saved Just Host control panel link.
  • Confirm the renewal amount for hosting and for the domain separately. A guarantee that billing cycles are unchanged says nothing about the price at the next renewal.
  • Export a full backup of files, databases and mailboxes and keep it off the hosting account.
  • Review any add-ons bought years ago, such as site backup tools, SEO services or privacy products, and cancel what you no longer use before it renews.
  • If you plan to move, unlock the domain, request the authorization code and check that the administrative contact email still reaches you. Move the site first, email second and the domain last.

What to use instead

Just Host competed on price, so most honest replacements are cheap shared hosts with one important difference from the original: published renewal rates. Be aware that two of the obvious names, Bluehost and HostGator, are both Newfold Digital brands, the same group Just Host was folded into, so choosing either keeps you with the same owner. The independent options below do not.

Why this page exists

We keep reviews of retired hosting brands online because people still search for them, still link to them and still have accounts, invoices or domains tied to them. A dead page or a silent redirect to a sales funnel does not answer the question those readers actually have, which is what happened and what to do next. This page is a status record, not a recommendation: we have not tested Just Host and we cannot, because there is nothing left to buy. Everything above is based on what the brand’s own domain does today, what the Internet Archive captured while the site was still live, and what the successor company publishes for the customers it inherited. If the situation changes we will update the page rather than delete it.

Sources and methodology. Plan prices, renewal rates and specs shown here reflect Just Host's official pricing and product pages as published on Sep 17, 2026 or later (for pages we could not load directly, we used dated archived copies of the official page). We have not purchased or benchmarked these plans; the review summarizes published specs, prices and terms. Sources: Prices can change at any time — confirm the current offer on the provider's site. Ratings follow our editorial policy; affiliate relationships never affect them (disclosure). Spotted an error? Let us know.
