WebHostingPad at a glance
WebHostingPad is a budget shared hosting company that says it was formed in 2005. Its contact page lists a mailing address in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and the company promotes US-based support. The site does not name a parent company. It sells three kinds of products: all-inclusive shared hosting (the Power Plan and the small Power Plan Mini), WordPress-oriented plans built on its Power Plan Plus tier, and VPS hosting, which is sold through a sister company called VPS Depot. Domains, SSL certificates, SiteLock and a paid Priority Support add-on round out the catalog.
Who WebHostingPad is for
- Owners of small personal, hobby or local business sites who want the lowest possible long-term cost.
- Buyers who dislike big renewal jumps and prefer a provider that publishes its regular rates up front.
- People who want many email accounts and a simple site builder bundled with basic hosting.
It is a weaker fit for growing stores, developers who want modern NVMe VPS hardware, and anyone who needs to know where their site is hosted: the data center location is not published.
Pricing and renewals
WebHostingPad deserves credit for a clear regular-rates table. Shared hosting is billed in 1 to 5 year cycles, paid upfront, and there is no monthly option. The Power Plan costs $3.99/mo on a 1-year term, $2.99/mo on 2 years, $2.29/mo on 3 years and $1.99/mo on 4 or 5 years. On the 5-year cycle the regular rate listed in the main table is $4.82/mo, and even the 1-year cycle renews at $6.65/mo. Note that the same site also shows a second, slightly lower rate table (for example $4.49/mo on 5 years), so confirm the renewal figure in your cart. The table also says accounts hosted with cPanel cost an additional $1 per month.
The WordPress plans run on the Power Plan Plus tier and are billed for 1 to 3 years. On a 3-year term, WordPress Basic is $2.99/mo (renews at $5.99/mo), WordPress Pro is $3.99/mo (renews at $6.99/mo) and WordPress Premium is $5.99/mo (renews at $7.99/mo). The Power Plan Mini is the odd one out: it has fixed pricing of $3.50/mo on 1 year, $3.25/mo on 2 years and $3.00/mo on 3 years, and that rate is what you keep paying at renewal.
VPS through VPS Depot
VPS plans are ordered at VPS Depot and billed monthly, quarterly or every 6 months. With the 6-month cycle, VPS Gold (2 GB RAM, 80 GB disk, 250 GB transfer, 2 dedicated IPs) is $19.95/mo, VPS Platinum (4 GB RAM, 200 GB disk, 1.5 TB transfer, 3 IPs) is $44.95/mo, and the fully managed plan (8 GB RAM, 300 GB disk, 3 TB transfer) is $84.95/mo. Paying month to month raises those to $29.95, $54.95 and $104.95. The plans include root access, cPanel or DirectAdmin, a firewall and reseller rights, but CPU counts and storage type are not listed, and the price per GB of RAM is high next to current VPS brands.
Features
Every shared plan includes a free domain for the first year (up to $16.99 in value), free SSL, SiteLock Lite, unlimited email accounts, 1-click WordPress, Softaculous and site builders such as Weebly and RVSiteBuilder. Storage, bandwidth, databases and websites are marketed as unlimited, but the terms of service add real limits: 200,000 inodes per account, no more than 10% of server CPU and memory, and database size caps. The Power Plan Mini is honest about its size, with 2 websites, 10 GB of disk and 100 GB of bandwidth.
Power Plan Plus and the WordPress plans move sites to servers the company describes as optimized for high traffic and add a trusted CA SSL certificate, priority support, premium backups, malware scanning and a CDN. Pro and Premium advertise two and three times the computing power of Basic.
Backups
Backups are the main weak spot on the entry plan. Without the premium backup service, WebHostingPad takes monthly backups only for sites up to 3 GB, does not back up email at all, and charges $39.95 to restore a backup for you. Plan to keep your own copies, or choose a tier with premium weekly backups.
Reliability and support
The company offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee with hosting credit when it is missed, although the credit formula differs between the plan pages and the terms. Technical support is available 24/7 by live chat, email and tickets. Phone support runs Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm Central time and is not available on the Mini plan; a Priority Support add-on for $39.95 per year adds a priority phone line and hands-on setup help. Payment options include major credit and debit cards, PayPal, AliPay, money orders, Western Union and paper checks for US residents.
Money-back guarantee
Shared hosting plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee for new accounts. Renewals, add-ons, SSL certificates, domain registrations (including the free domain) and service fees are not refundable.
Verdict
WebHostingPad is an old-school budget host with one genuinely useful trait: its renewal prices stay low and are published openly, and the Mini plan never jumps at renewal. In exchange you get long prepaid terms, limited free backups, undisclosed server locations and hardware, and a VPS line that looks dated on price. It fits a small, stable site where long-term cost matters most; busier sites and stores will usually get more elsewhere.
