From Yahoo Web Hosting to Turbify

If you are looking for Yahoo Web Hosting, this is where it ended up. The small business hosting arm that Yahoo built after buying Viaweb in 1998 (renamed Yahoo Store) was later run as Yahoo Small Business, then as part of Verizon’s Small Business Essentials. In 2022 that portfolio was bought by Infinite Computer Solutions and relaunched under the Turbify name. Turbify’s own footer still links “About Turbify” to Infinite’s small business page, and the legal entity behind its privacy policy is Aabaco Small Business, LLC in Rockville, Maryland – the company that was spun out of Yahoo. Old addresses such as smallbusiness.yahoo.com no longer lead to hosting; they redirect to Yahoo’s local listings.

The product line is narrower than it was in the Yahoo days. Turbify sells shared web hosting, WordPress hosting, WooCommerce hosting, business email, domains, SSL certificates and website design services. There is no self-serve VPS and no dedicated server line; larger customers are pointed at an “Enterprise Solutions” contact form instead.

Plans and pricing

All prices below are the first-term rates Turbify quotes for a 12-month plan, with the renewal rate that the same product page shows.

Web hosting

• Essentials: 100 GB NVMe storage, 100 GB bandwidth, 25 subdomains, 5 MySQL databases, 25 business mail accounts – $2.99/mo, renews at $7.99/mo.
• Advanced: 500 GB storage and bandwidth, 50 subdomains, 10 databases, 50 mail accounts – $3.99/mo, renews at $12.99/mo.
• Professional: unlimited storage and bandwidth, 100 subdomains, 25 databases, 100 mail accounts – $0.99/mo for the first year, renews at $17.99/mo.

WordPress and WooCommerce

• WordPress Starter / WooCommerce Standard: 500 GB NVMe, WordPress Toolkit, staging and cloning – $3.99/mo, renews at $9.75/mo.
• WordPress Standard / WooCommerce Professional: unlimited storage and bandwidth, malware scan and repair – $0.99/mo for the first year, renews at $11.25/mo.

Two things deserve attention. First, the $0.99 offers are a first-term hook: the Professional web hosting plan is cheaper than Essentials for twelve months and then costs six times as much as Essentials on renewal. Second, Turbify also sells the same plans on monthly, 24-month and 36-month terms, and the three-year rates ($2.49-$4.99/mo) are the ones to compare if you intend to stay. Monthly billing exists but is expensive – $7.99 to $13.99/mo depending on the plan.

What you get

Every plan includes cPanel, NVMe storage, a free domain for the first year, a free SSL certificate that stays free at renewal, Yahoo Business Mail accounts, secure FTPS, backup and restore tools, an advanced firewall, DDoS protection and the Turbify website builder. WordPress and WooCommerce plans add the WordPress Toolkit, managed WordPress updates, LiteSpeed caching and site cloning or staging. WooCommerce plans list Imunify360 for DDoS and malware defence.

Turbify says its servers run on Microsoft Azure infrastructure that meets SSAE-18 standards and passes SOC 2 audits, and it advertises a 99.9% uptime guarantee on plan pages (the hosting landing page uses the figure 99.99%, so the guarantee wording is inconsistent). It does not publish which Azure regions host customer sites, nor the CPU or RAM allocation per plan, which makes it hard to compare against hosts that document their hardware.

Support and refunds

Support is 24/7 by phone on 1-833-689-8646, with a help centre and a resource centre online. The terms of service carry a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for new web hosting and WordPress hosting orders; refunds must be requested by phone, the domain registration fee is not refundable, and add-ons are excluded. Annual and multi-year plans auto-renew at the then-current rate and must be cancelled at least 32 days before the term ends, so calendar reminders matter here.

Who it suits

• Existing Yahoo Small Business, Aabaco or Verizon Small Business customers who want to stay put and keep their mail and store.
• Small business owners who want cPanel, email and a website builder in one bill and value phone support.
• Buyers who want a long first year for a token price and are willing to move before renewal.

It is a poor match for anyone who needs a VPS, root access, published server locations or documented resource limits, and for buyers who dislike renewal rates that are several times the intro price.

Verdict

Turbify is a real, still-trading continuation of Yahoo Web Hosting rather than a dead brand, and the current stack – cPanel, NVMe, LiteSpeed, Azure, free SSL and mail – is respectable for a small business site. What holds it back is the shape of the offer: shared hosting only, thin public specifications, and promotional pricing that renews aggressively. Read the renewal line, consider the three-year rate instead of the $0.99 teaser, and compare it with hosts that publish their data centre locations before committing.
