Shockbyte at a glance
Shockbyte is an Australian game server host (Shockbyte PTY LTD, ABN 40 626 765 455) that has been selling Minecraft and multiplayer game servers since 2013. Its FAQ describes the company as one of the longest-running server hosts in the world, and the catalogue backs that up: the games page advertises premium hosting for “over 45 of the most popular games”, with Minecraft as the flagship product from $2.79/mo on the current promotional pricing. There are no shared web hosting, VPS or dedicated server products here – this is a pure game server business.
Games and modpacks
Minecraft is covered on both editions. Shockbyte states that its plans support Java and Bedrock Edition with automatic version updates, and that one-click installation is available for “every server type imaginable”, naming Paper, CraftBukkit, Forge and Vanilla on the Java side and Bedrock Dedicated Server and PocketMine-MP on the Bedrock side. Modded Minecraft is handled through the same installer, with CurseForge, Feed The Beast, Technic and ATLauncher listed as supported modpack sources, plus a dedicated modpacks page and a knowledgebase article covering modpack installation for any server type.
Outside Minecraft the catalogue is broad: Rust, ARK: Survival Evolved, Palworld, Valheim, Terraria, 7 Days to Die, Project Zomboid, DayZ, Satisfactory, Conan Exiles, Counter-Strike 2, FiveM, Garry’s Mod, Squad, Arma 3, V Rising, Enshrouded, Factorio and Eco all have their own product pages, alongside upcoming titles marked “Coming Soon”. Several games carry an “Official Partner” badge, including Rust, FiveM, Hytale and Counter-Strike 2.
Control panel
Shockbyte launched a new in-house control panel and promotes it heavily across the site. The feature tour highlights a real-time console with message highlighting, filtering and log sharing, a modpack installer, server instances, a configuration manager and built-in backups. The older Multicraft panel has not disappeared – the site still links a separate Multicraft knowledgebase – so expect the new panel on fresh orders and Multicraft documentation for legacy setups.
RAM tiers, player counts and pricing
Shockbyte bills strictly per RAM tier, not per player slot, and every Minecraft tier is named after a Minecraft block: Dirt (1 GB), Sand (2 GB), Cobblestone (3 GB), Iron (4 GB), Gold (5 GB), Redstone (6 GB), Diamond (7 GB), Emerald (8 GB), Obsidian (9 GB), Spartan (10 GB), Zeus (12 GB) and a Custom Plan starting at 17 GB. Each tier carries a published player-count figure written as a minimum with a plus sign: 3+ players on 1 GB, 5+ on 2 GB, 8+ on 3 GB, 15+ on 4 GB, 17+ on 5 GB, 20+ on 6 GB, 23+ on 7 GB, 25+ on 8 GB, 30+ on 9 GB, 40+ on 10 GB, 45+ on 12 GB and 70+ on the 17 GB custom tier. Those numbers are Shockbyte’s own guidance rather than a hard slot cap, and they assume a fairly plain server – a heavy modpack or a plugin-loaded survival world will eat the same RAM with far fewer players online, so buying one tier above the published figure is the safer reading.
Pricing is shown monthly with quarterly (-10%) and annual (-50%) options, and at the time of the capture every tier carried a 30% recurring discount: Dirt $3.99 down to $2.79/mo, Cobblestone $11.99 down to $8.39/mo, Emerald $31.99 down to $22.39/mo, Zeus $47.99 down to $33.59/mo. Storage is not published per tier. Checkout accepts cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Link.
Network, DDoS protection and locations
The hardware page claims AMD EPYC and Ryzen CPUs with high clock speeds – EPYC 4465P at up to 5.40 GHz, EPYC 4564P and Ryzen 9 7950X/9950X at up to 5.70 GHz depending on site – with DDR5 memory and NVMe SSD storage described as six times faster than SATA SSD. DDoS protection is advertised as built in, always on and free on every server, but Shockbyte does not publish a filtering capacity figure, so treat it as an unquantified claim.
The locations map lists seventeen sites: five in the United States (Virginia, Florida, California, Texas, Oregon), Quebec in Canada, Sao Paulo in Brazil, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, India, Singapore, Tokyo and Japan, and Australia. Shockbyte publishes regions and states rather than exact cities for most of them, and says the server location can be changed after purchase.
Support, backups and refunds
Support is advertised as 24/7 through the client area, with a public Discord for announcements and community help; no response-time target is published. Backups are a panel feature, with scheduling and an instance picker shown in the panel tour, rather than a documented retention policy. The refund policy is unusually self-service: the FAQ states you can request a refund yourself within three days of payment straight from the control panel – select the service, open the three-dot menu and click Request Refund – with no support ticket required. Uptime is advertised at 99.9% and there is a separate service level agreement page.
Who it suits
Shockbyte fits players who want a cheap, predictable Minecraft or survival-game server with a modern panel and a very wide game catalogue, and who are comfortable choosing a RAM tier themselves. It is a weaker fit if you need published bandwidth or storage limits, a guaranteed DDoS mitigation capacity, a dedicated IPv4 address, or anything beyond game servers – there is no VPS or web hosting line to grow into.
