InterServer at a glance
InterServer is a privately held New Jersey hosting company founded in 1999 by Mike Lavrik and John Quaglieri, who still run the technical and business sides of it. It sells shared web hosting, cloud VPS built from stackable resource slices, bare metal and GPU servers, colocation and email hosting, and it runs its own Secaucus facility alongside space in Equinix, CoreSite, H5 and 365 Datacenters sites. Everything is hosted in the United States.
Who InterServer is for
- Site owners who hate renewal surprises and want a flat monthly rate they can budget for.
- Small businesses and agencies that need shared hosting with real email deliverability and free migration help.
- Developers who want a cheap Linux or Windows VPS they can grow one slice at a time.
- Teams buying bare metal, GPU servers or colocation on the East Coast, in Dallas or in Los Angeles.
Buyers who need servers outside the United States, hourly billing or a managed WordPress platform should look elsewhere.
Pricing and the price lock
The price lock is InterServer’s signature claim, and it is worth reading carefully. Standard Web Hosting is advertised at $2.50 for the first month and then renews at $7 per month. Prepaid terms follow the same pattern: 6 months costs $15 and renews at $42, 12 months costs $30 and renews at $84, 24 months costs $60 and renews at $168. In practice the guarantee means the recurring rate does not climb later, not that the $2.50 headline continues. The plan details page lists the Price Lock Guarantee, a 30-day guarantee and a 99.9% uptime guarantee as included.
The cPanel version of the same plan is $2.50 for the first month and then $8 per month. If the site outgrows the baseline, Boost plans raise CPU, memory, I/O and inode limits with no intro pricing at all: Boost 2 is $9.95 with 2 cores and 4 GB, Boost 4 is $19.95 with 4 cores and 8 GB, and Boost X is $69.95 with 10 cores and 20 GB.
VPS slices
Cloud VPS pricing is unusually simple. One Linux slice costs $3 per month and gives 1 core, 2 GB of memory, 40 GB of SSD storage and 2 TB of transfer on a 10 Gbps shared port. Slices stack linearly up to 32: four slices are $12 for 2 cores, 8 GB and 160 GB, eight slices are $24 for 4 cores and 16 GB, sixteen slices are $48 for 8 cores, 32 GB and 640 GB. Managed support is bundled in from eight slices upward. Windows runs on Hyper-V at $5 per slice with a two-slice minimum, so the entry Windows server is $10 per month. Storage VPS uses the same $3 unit but buys 1 TB of SATA capacity. Billing is monthly only, with no hourly option and no term discount.
Dedicated and GPU
Custom builds start around $149 per month for a 12-core Ryzen 9900X with 64 GB, storage chosen at order time. The Buy It Now marketplace lists stocked machines: a 28-core dual Xeon E5-2680v4 with 128 GB and 48 TB of SATA at $236, a 16-core Ryzen 7950X3D with 192 GB and 8 TB of NVMe in Dallas at $342, and a 12-core Ryzen 9900X in Los Angeles at $431. A DGX Spark GPU box with a Blackwell GB10 is $499. All include IPMI or iLO access, DDoS protection and no setup fee.
Features
Shared accounts run on CloudLinux with LiteSpeed, SSD caching, RAID-10 storage and a free Cloudflare CDN, managed through DirectAdmin or cPanel. Storage, transfer, domains, email and FTP accounts are sold as unlimited, with weekly backups and free SSL. InterShield handles malware scanning and firewall rules, Inter-Insurance covers cleanup of compromised accounts, and outgoing mail is relayed through smart hosts to protect deliverability. Roughly 450 one-click apps cover WordPress, Magento, PrestaShop and Joomla, and migration is free.
Data centers
All locations are in the United States. The company operates TEB2 in Secaucus, New Jersey and adds capacity in Equinix NY4, H5, CoreSite NY2 and CSquare NYC3 in the same market, 365 Datacenters in Carlstadt and Dallas, a Dataverge facility in Jersey City, and Equinix LA3 in Los Angeles. VPS and dedicated customers choose between the New York metro, Dallas and Los Angeles. The backbone runs at 100 Gbps with BGPv4 routing and N+1 spare router capacity.
Support and guarantees
Support is staffed 24/7 through tickets, email and a toll-free phone line, with an internal target of one to three hours for a first reply. The SLA promises 99.9% network and 100% power availability, with credits capped at half the monthly fee and claimed by ticket within seven days. The 30-day money-back guarantee is narrower than the marketing suggests: it covers web hosting packages only, while VPS, dedicated servers, colocation and licenses are not refundable once service starts. Payment is by card, PayPal or check and money order.
Verdict
InterServer suits buyers who value predictable US hosting over headline discounts. Flat VPS slice pricing, a locked renewal rate, free DDoS protection and phone support are genuinely useful, and owning the Secaucus facility shows in how hands-on support is. The trade-offs are a US-only footprint, three VPS regions, SSD rather than NVMe on the standard VPS line, and no refunds once a VPS or dedicated server is running. Treat the $7 renewal, not the $2.50 teaser, as the real price.
