Apex Hosting LLC has been selling Minecraft servers since 2013 and describes its mission as being “the leader in game server hosting through dedication to customer support and education”. The catalogue covers 28 titles, but Minecraft is clearly the core product: the company still trades under the apexminecrafthosting.com domain, and its guide library, modpack installer and panel tooling are built around it. There is no VPS, web hosting or dedicated server line.

Games and modpacks

The order catalogue lists Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock Edition as separate products, plus Palworld, Hytale, Windrose, Nightingale, SCUM, Farming Simulator 25, ARK: Survival Evolved and Survival Ascended, Enshrouded, Valheim, Project Zomboid, Rust, 7 Days to Die, Unturned, Conan Exiles, Terraria, Counter-Strike 2, Satisfactory, Factorio, Arma III, Starbound, ECO, V Rising, The Forest, Sons of the Forest and Myth of Empires. The pricing page promises all mod and plugin support, a free server transfer from another host and premade minigames included with the plan.

Modpack support is the strongest part of the offer. The public modpack list shows 687 installable entries, covering both curated packs and raw server software – Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, Spigot and Purpur builds sit alongside packs such as All the Mons, each pinned to a version. Apex installs any of them from the panel, and the page warns that every pack needs a different amount of RAM depending on player numbers, so size the plan to the pack rather than the other way round.

Control panel

Apex runs a Multicraft-based panel with its own interface layer on top; the guide library is full of articles filed under “control panel” covering the console, plugin management with Bukget, flat-world creation and restoring a world from a backup. The company describes the panel as a simple but advanced interface built in-house for newcomers. FTP and MySQL access are included on all plans.

RAM tiers and what they mean for player counts

Apex bills purely per RAM tier. It does not publish a player-slot figure for any plan, and slots are not the unit you buy – the published tiers are 4 GB at $14.99/mo, 6 GB at $22.49/mo and 8 GB at $27.99/mo, with a customiser that starts at $1.88/mo for a build-your-own configuration and a hard ceiling of 32 GB for Minecraft. The only sizing guidance on the pricing page is qualitative: 4 GB and 6 GB are labelled for “basic servers and some modpacks”, 8 GB for “advanced servers and all modpacks”. Apex links out to a separate guide called “How much RAM do I need?” instead of printing player numbers, which is honest but means a first-time buyer has to do the sizing work. The practical reading is that a plain vanilla or Paper world runs comfortably on the entry tier while a heavy Forge pack wants the 8 GB plan or more, regardless of how many friends are joining.

Above the standard line sits the EX Series: 16 GB DDR4, four dedicated vCores of a Ryzen 9 5900X in the US and EU (Ryzen 7 5800X in Asia-Pacific and Australia) at up to 4.8 GHz, NVMe storage, premium support and a free dedicated IP for $71.99/mo. On standard plans a dedicated IP is an add-on, so the EX tier is the one to look at for a public community server. A 25% first-order discount code is advertised site-wide, so the first month is cheaper than the recurring price on every tier; quarterly billing takes a further 10% off.

Hardware, DDoS protection and locations

The server specifications page is unusually detailed for this market: it names the CPU, storage layout and memory for every site and marks which hardware is legacy and being retired. Current North American sites run Ryzen 9 7950X at 4.5 GHz with NVMe RAID1 and up to 192 GB of ECC DDR5 in New York, Miami, Vint Hill, San Jose and Dallas, with Portland on Ryzen 7 5800X; Europe covers Amsterdam, Frankfurt and London; Asia-Pacific covers Singapore, Tokyo and Tel Aviv; plus Sao Paulo and Sydney. Older Xeon and i7 nodes are still in service at a few sites and listed as such. On DDoS, Apex states that all plans include DDoS protection but publishes no mitigation capacity, so treat it as an unquantified claim.

Support, backups and refunds

Support runs through tickets and live chat from the support page, with a Discord community alongside; the site advertises 24/7 support and describes an international team working around the clock, but no response-time target is published. Backups are handled in the panel and documented in the guides, including world restores, with no published retention schedule. The refund window is a 7-day money-back guarantee stated directly on the pricing page – longer than the three days some rivals offer, though shorter than a standard 30-day web hosting guarantee.

Who it suits

Apex fits modded Minecraft players above all: a 687-entry modpack list, version-pinned installs, a guide library aimed at beginners and transparent hardware disclosure make it a comfortable first server. The EX Series is a reasonable step up for a community that has outgrown shared cores. It is a weaker fit for bargain hunters – the entry tier starts at 4 GB and $14.99/mo recurring, with no 1 GB or 2 GB plan advertised – and for anyone who needs published player limits, bandwidth figures or a quantified DDoS guarantee.
